A Different Kind of Medical Practice

Most medical practices handle one thing at a time. A pain clinic works on pain. A dermatologist works on skin. Every specialty keeps to its own lane, and the job of stitching the pieces back together falls to you.

We built Ivy en Rose around a different conviction: that pain, wellness, vitality, aesthetics, and the clinical products supporting them are not separate concerns at all. They are expressions of one underlying system, and they need to be addressed together.

The Ivy en Rose Difference

Why Patients and Clients Trust Ivy en Rose

Patients and clients trust Ivy en Rose because we have turned away from the high-volume corporate "medspa" assembly line, in favour of uncompromised patient safety, complete clinical transparency, and an unhurried, boutique experience. Reviewers and long-term clients return again and again to four pillars that hold up that professional trust:

Why Ivy en Rose Is Different: The Physician Behind Your Care

Dr. Andrew Vargas, MD sits at the centre of this practice. His thinking about pain, wellness, and recovery was shaped over years of rigorous training and hands-on clinical work at UCSF, one of the country's leading academic medical centres.

His clinical background runs from anesthesia for end-stage joint disease, through rehabilitation for injured patients, to comprehensive trauma care assessment, work that gave him an unusually deep grasp of how the body suffers, heals, and adapts. The precision and anatomical mastery he brought to pain medicine now shapes every aesthetic treatment we perform.

This is where we part company with the conventional medspa. Botox in Dr. Vargas's hands is a neuromuscular intervention, not merely a cosmetic injection, carried out by a physician who has spent years on facial anatomy, nerve pathways, and how muscle actually works, at the deepest clinical level. A filler protocol from him carries the same individualised, evidence-based thinking he brings to any pain management consultation. Aesthetics here is medicine, practised with the rigour, precision, and personalisation that a physician of his background can bring to it.

What ties everything together (Botox and Morpheus8, IV therapy, regenerative pain treatment) is a conviction Dr. Vargas carried out of his clinical years: no single approach fits everyone's way of looking, feeling, or healing. Suffering does not reduce to a number on a scale. People do not age along one path. Recovery follows no standard protocol. Each patient arrives with a particular body, a particular history, and particular goals, and deserves a plan of care built for them.

One Continuum of Care, From the Inside Out

Most clinics keep aesthetics and wellness in separate worlds. Here they are two expressions of one philosophy: that looking your best and feeling your best cannot be pulled apart, and that both call for the same standard of physician-led, individualised care.

A patient who comes in for Botox may also do well with IV therapy that supports skin health and cellular vitality from within. Someone managing chronic pain may find that aesthetic treatment, working on self-image and confidence, belongs to their broader healing. A patient after body contouring with Morpheus8 may be served just as well by a peptide or weight management protocol that speeds and sustains the result.

Dr. Vargas sees the whole person. He does not sort you into separate concerns and pass each one to a different provider. That integrated view is built into every consultation, and it is what allows health, vitality, and beauty to be handled comprehensively, under one roof.

What to Expect in a Consultation with Dr. Vargas

Sitting down with Dr. Vargas does not mean a rushed intake or a pre-packaged protocol. It means a physician who listens.

In your consultation, Dr. Vargas will look comprehensively at:

From there, Dr. Vargas works with you (not for you) on a treatment plan that fits your values, your goals, and your life. Injectables, vitamin shots and IV therapy, Morpheus8, regenerative work, pain management, or a carefully sequenced combination of all of it: the plan is yours. No default pill, no standard protocol, no one-size-fits-all answer.

That philosophy (precise, personal, grounded in real clinical experience) is the foundation everything here is built on.

Services Guided by This Philosophy

Every service reflects Dr. Vargas's integrated, physician-led approach:

Ready for care that treats you as an individual?

The Five Pillars

Every patient's care is organised around five interconnected pillars. Addressed together, the results are not additive; they synergise.

Pain Management

Meeting acute and chronic pain at its source, with interventional techniques, nerve science, and anti-inflammatory medicine. Pain left unmanaged disrupts sleep, raises cortisol, suppresses immune function, and speeds physiological ageing.

Wellness

Building and holding the biological conditions your body needs to work well: how you sleep, how you handle stress, gut health, metabolic balance, immune resilience: the invisible infrastructure behind how you feel each day.

Vitality

Tuning what drives your energy and performance: hormones in balance, mitochondria working well, cells repairing, metabolism running efficiently. Vitality shapes not only how long you live, but how fully.

Aesthetics

Turning your internal health outward, through medically guided skin treatments and precision injectables. Aesthetics here is never superficial. It is the visible expression of the care we put into the whole person.

Clinical Products

Medical-grade skincare, peptides, supplements, and curated optimisation plans, chosen by Dr. Vargas to carry the work of a visit forward at home, so what begins in clinic keeps going day to day.

"When these pillars are addressed in concert, the results are not additive; they synergize. Patients don't just feel a little better in each area. They experience a qualitative shift in how they move through the world."

— Dr. Andrew Vargas

Why Integration Changes Everything

Take someone whose lower back has hurt for months. At an ordinary pain clinic they might receive an epidural steroid injection and be sent home. Here, that same patient goes through a comprehensive intake that also examines sleep hygiene, cortisol rhythms, testosterone or estrogen levels, and inflammatory markers.

We may find that raised nighttime cortisol is blocking restorative sleep, which in turn heightens pain sensitivity. Or that a testosterone deficiency is slowing musculoskeletal recovery. Or that chronic inflammation is keeping the pain cycle going, whatever injections we give.

The injection stays in the plan. But it becomes one element of an approach that takes in the patient's whole physiological landscape. What follows is more than reduced pain: sleep improves, energy returns, body composition shifts, and the foundation for long-term health gets stronger. That is the difference here.

A Personalized Experience

Ivy en Rose sits in the West Portal neighbourhood of San Francisco: a private, unhurried practice for patients who take their health seriously. We see a limited number of patients by design, because exceptional care needs time, attention, and genuine partnership.

Every patient starts with a thorough consultation with Dr. Vargas: a real conversation about where your health has been, where you want it to go, and what optimal actually looks and feels like for you. From there we design a plan as particular as you are, drawing on all five pillars in whatever proportions suit your body and your life.
